A BIT ABOUT US ....

A highly approachable passion for timeless style, craftsmanship, good design and personal customer care stands at the core of what Millard & Lancaster is focused upon. Established by Stacey Millard and Gareth Williams in 2012, Millard & Lancaster trades from the centre of Shrewsbury, a fabulous historic town that is almost is wrapped within a loop of the River Severn at the very heart of England. A E Housman poetically described the town in his Shropshire Lad with the words ‘High the vanes of Shrewsbury gleam Islanded in Severn stream’ which perfectly encapsulates our special location. Our Regency shop-front, painted in our distinctive purple livery, stands between the vanes of the spires of the Churches of St Alkmund’s and St Mary’s. Inside that shop-front – just like the virtual shop front that you’re now on – you’ll find a joyous and ever-changing selection of items that are emblematic of classic British style.

Stacey’s background is that of an award-winning retailer focused upon delivering the very best of customer care in both the real-world setting of our atmospheric store and on through the website that show cases our kaleidoscope of unusual and exciting items. Gareth maintains a curator’s eye, lending a hand to buying missions which ensure that the shop offers a new creative dynamic for interiors and special presents for all occasions. With backgrounds that encompass advice to some of Britain’s most interesting addresses – both historic and contemporary – our stock reflects a desired to create satisfied, layered interiors where old and new can happily co-exist. Our homes are special places to us all and we’re driven by a desire to enable our customers to make their them personal, timeless, beautiful spaces where busy lives can be well-led.

We’re privileged to work with some of the finest of British brands, offering practical and beautiful glassware from William Yeoward Crystal, candles and toiletries by Floris, individual pieces from India Jane and Eichholtz, stunning candles by Charles Farris, these are just a few of the brands we stock. Since our founding, we’ve also enjoyed working with a selection of artists whose work we’ve offered on our walls and for collaborations with hugely talented craftspeople. In 2013, working with Deborah Sears we launched an exclusive range of hand-painted English Delft wares inspired by Charles Darwin’s Shropshire origins. Named Darwin’s Garden it has, unsurprisingly become a coveted collectors item. Our stock is constantly changing as new craftsmanship and tastes evolve, making both our store and website a go-to destination for anyone wanting to find items to take their lives and homes into the future.

Our website might be wonderful but if you have never visited Shrewsbury then do come and see us and make the most of seeing this architecturally satisfying county town and the glorious scenery that surrounds it in Shropshire. We’re very proud to be based in the town and we know that you’ll love it too.
